It is a shame that someone has to approach a court to receive a sacrament. Our constitution does not suggest or mandate anyone to receive these sacraments. It is the church and the clergy who glorify and mandate these sacraments. A child who wish to receive his or her first communion may be around 10 years old. How can the Vicar or Parish Committee expect big contributions from such kids. They are actually punishing an innocent child for the failure of his or her parents. These guys have no regard or respect for the recent directive from our pope not to solicit any fee for administering sacraments. Reforming the Syro Malabar church may be a wishful thinking. I think we in the reform movement should seriously consider an exodus from their captivity. Jose.
