Origin of Mar Thoma Cross

Dear Kattikkaren,

Tell us honestly, why the Roman Catholic Church decided that Dec 18 as the feast of miraculous cross of Mailappore ? What is the miraculous cross of mailappore ? Is it the crucifix in the church of Mailappore or the Pahlavi inscribed Saint Thomas Cross of Mailappore ?

Therefore, the Roman catholic Church has accepted this model of cross. Then why you are opposing it as non Christian or non catholic ? Now, who is telling false informations ? Those who oppose this cross are opposing the Roman Catholic Church. They are trying to cause division in the Catholic Church. They are anti Catholics.

Saint Thomas Cross is called so because, it was the only cross venerated by Saint Thomas Christians. Gouvea has clearly documented that all of their churches has crosses similar to that of Mailappore and nothing else.

Not only in Brazil and India there are tombs in several other places like in China and Japan etc.

To date we have no historical evidence that Apstole Thomas came to India. But we remain in our traditional belief.

In September 2006, Pope Benedict XVI made a speech in which he stated that Saint Thomas evangelized Syria and Persia and went to Western India. Christianity according to him then reached South India. Do you now say that Pope is now non catholic and non Christian? Is He dividing the Church ?

The whole trouble is our Bishops have spread many myths without concrete historical evidences. Now instead of accepting their foolishness they are trying to make not only their own people fools but the whole world. No surprise, they found that Mar Thoma Cross is an ideal instrument for that purpose.

If you want to live as a true Christian follow Jesus and worship the cross on which he had suffered for the sake of whole of humanity. Jesus taught us a prayer also

“ Our Father…..

………….. And lead us not into temptation,but deliver us from evil."( Here the evil is Mar Thoma cross because it disturbs peace in our families, society and faith )
